My daughter heads back to college tomorrow morning.
Today has been an incredibly emotional day!
Since my dad is driving her tomorrow, she is staying the night at my parents’ house. I had to say my good-byes today. There were lots of tears. I’m still kicking myself for not investing time and money into a tall tower to lock her away. Of course, I’m just kidding… a little.
A Few Projects to Take My Mind Off of Her Leaving
Rearranged Bedroom and Did Laundry
I always find that when things get too emotional, I need a project (or projects) to take my mind off of things. Today, my husband and I rearranged our bedroom and cleaned the floors. I did lots of laundry that managed to find its way into obscure crevices under random pieces of furniture. I suspect the cats may have chased them there.
Spray Paint Outdoor Furniture and Some Jars
I finished spray painting some outside furniture. I had some spray paint left so I painted some large jars. I think that they came out cute.
This is really easy to do. Just remember that if you paint lids to go on the jars that you paint under the rim of the lid, too.
Spray Paint Cabinet Handles
After painting the jars, I turned my attention to the cabinet handles that have been looking bad for a very long time now.
A little spray paint makes a huge difference.
I never liked the gold, anyway. We swapped the gold for a nickle finish.
Cleaned tough grease off of cabinets.
Of course, the cute handles couldn’t go back onto cabinets until they were thoroughly cleaned. I had some tough grease on the very tops of several cabinets. I took a little Dawn dish washing liquid and rubbed it onto the area. I let it sit for a few minutes. After sitting, I wiped it up. It took a little elbow grease, but not much.
Now that the cabinets are cleaned and the handles are dry, we can put them back on.
I’m exhausted ( and I still miss my daughter), but I’m so happy with the way these projects turned out. I think a long, hot bath is calling me.
