My mother would make this delicious Spiced Tea Mix when I was growing up. It has become a tradition. I make a batch every year as soon as the weather begins to get even the slightest bit chilly. Just add hot water, and you have a sweet citrus tea to enjoy. I keep a jar at work and a large jar at home. Many people like to give jars away as gifts for the holidays which is why some people refer to Spiced Tea as Friendship Tea.

I am including two recipes. The first recipe uses a 26 oz container of Tang. When I returned to my local Walmart to buy more Tang, they only had 20 oz containers of Tang. Since different readers may only have access to certain sizes of Tang, I decided to write recipes using whole containers in both sizes for your convenience.
Recommended Kitchen Tools
Whisk
-or-
Large Zipper Bags
Kettle, Microwave, or Keurig (for hot water)
The first time I made this Spiced Tea, I used a large bowl with a whisk which worked really well. The second time, I used a gallon sized zipper bag which also worked well. Take your choice!
Simply add all the dry ingredients either to a large bowl or a zipper bag, and stir the bowl or shake the sealed bag until it is really well mixed. That is all!
To prepare a cup of hot spiced tea, just add hot water. I usually use about 1 tablespoon for every 1 cup of hot water.

My former mother in law would make this!! She was the best ever!! I miss her, list contact after she moved away. Thank you for posting the recipe!!
I’ve been trying to find one!
You are most welcome! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Delicious yummy
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it.
How much mix to make 16 oz or 32oz
for 16 oz, I would use 1.25 cups of Lipton with slightly less spices than the 20 oz Tang calls for. For 32 oz, I would use between 2.25 and 2.5 cups of Lipton with slightly more spices than the 26 oz Tang recipe calls for. I hope this helps.
Thanks 😊 😋 my momma used to make this all the time
You are so welcome! My mom did, too.
Hi! I am a homeschool mom, too. This brings back memories of my own mom mixing this together every winter. Thanks for posting the recipe!
You are very welcome!
Hi Trisha,
Thank you for this recipe. Just to clarify before I go get ingredients for it, is the "Instant Tea with Lemon" a sweetened or unsweetened product I should be looking for?
Thanks!
Lindsey
It is a sweetened product.
I hope you enjoy this Spiced Tea as much as my family and I have.
Trisha, Thank you. The 20 oz Tang recipe, how many jars will it fill? Jars like the ones on your recipe pictures.
I have made this recipe so many times with so many different sized jars that I'm really not sure. I want to say just the three I have pictured here, but I could be thinking of a different time with different ratios. I'm sorry. I wish I could remember.
It is very thoughtful of you to write this recipe using both sizes of Tang mix. That is really, really helpful. My mom used to make this too, in the winter, we loved it. Thank you
You are most welcome!
is the instant tea sweet or non sweet?
Sweet!
