This recipe calls for chicken gravy. I do not usually make my own chicken gravy (unless I put a whole chicken in the slow cooker), but kudos to you if you do. I alternate between the powdered gravy mix (very inexpensive) and the jarred gravy (very quick). Sometimes time is at a higher premium than money. Sometimes money trumps time.
My grandfather used to call this recipe SOS which stood for an ugly four-letter word on a shingle. Apparently, that was what he and his fellow military buddies called the mystery meat with gravy that they were served in the military during WWII. I hope that doesn’t turn you away because this really is yummy.

Shredded Chicken and Gravy
Ingredients
- Shredded Chicken
- Gravy (jarred, homemade, or made from a dry mix)
- Toast or toasted buns
Instructions
- Add enough gravy to your shredded chicken to get it to your desired consistency and stir.
- Serve over toast (shingle… hee hee).
