Chocolate Cherry Cobbler in the Slow Cooker #Recipe

Oh my goodness!  Chocolate Cherry Cobbler is a chocolate-lover’s dream come true!  I am in love.  This slow cooker recipe is unbelievably easy, too.    Chocolate Cherry Cobbler is good enough for a special occasion but easy enough for an ordinary weeknight dessert.  Perfect dessert for Valentine’s Day, Anniversary Dinner, Potlucks, or holidays.  Easy enough for a hectic weeknight.

Simply start by pouring a can of Cherry Pie Filling into a slow cooker.  I added a half brick of cream cheese to the cherry pie filling by dropping dollops into the cherry filling.  Push the cream cheese down into the filling a bit with a spoon or your finger.  I won’t tell.

I sprinkled a half box of chocolate cake mix evenly over the cherry filling and cream cheese.  German chocolate cake mix is my first choice, but any chocolate cake mix will work.  Finally, I layered pats of butter over the cake mix.  I used a half of a stick of butter or 4 tablespoons.

Next, I put the lid onto the slow cooker.  Chocolate Cherry Cobbler cooks in the slow cooker on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.  You should know your own appliance.  Some slow cookers will need much less time while others will need much more time.

  • How many people would this serve? I'm wanting to simply use who brick and box, assuming the cook time would be about the same??

    • Naturally, that would depend on serving size. I'm assuming that "who brick and box" means two cans of filling, whole box of cream cheese, and a whole box of cake mix. If you are in fact doubling the recipe, I would say that it should serve 6-8 people. However, I usually double this recipe to serve the 4 of us because my teen sons will wipe it out. I don't recommend doubling only the cream cheese and cake mix without doubling everything else, but then, I'm not in your kitchen. I would love to hear what you ultimately decide to do and how it comes out!
