Banana Pudding is a family favorite. Maybe it’s a man thing, but all the men in my family are especially fond of it. I love a great tasting dessert, but I love it even more when it’s super easy to make. This Banana Pudding recipe is both incredibly yummy and super easy to make. Perfect for parties, barbecues, potlucks, after school snacks, or just to treat your family.

I start with a large package of instant vanilla pudding mix. The vanilla pudding mix gets poured into a large mixing bowl with 3 cups of milk. I used 2.5% milk to make mine, but whatever milk you have at home will be fine. If my husband weren’t eating it, I might even substitute almond milk if the mood suited me.
A hand beater comes in handy to mix the instant pudding, but a spoon or whisk will work if that’s all you have. Beat the pudding and milk until it begins to thicken. Whipped topping is added to the mixture and gently stirred or folded in. Do not beat the whipped topping in.
Bananas should be chosen carefully. The bananas should be extremely ripe without brown spots. Brown spots should be removed and thrown away. I sliced 5 large bananas for this recipe. If your bananas are under-ripe, you might want to substitute banana flavored pudding in place of the vanilla pudding since the bananas won’t be a flavorful as extremely ripe bananas will be.
The bananas are stirred into the pudding mixture. The entire bowl needs to be chilled until served. I like to top mine with vanilla wafers. I place the vanilla wafers as I serve them so the cookies don’t get soft or soggy. I like my cookies crisp so they get added at the last minute. My mom likes to put vanilla wafers on the bottom of the pudding. The cookies do get soft this way. It is really just a matter of preference.
